Wuthering, Wuthering, Wuthering Heights

Okay, so it was the first week of Victorian Novel class and we had to sign up to do group projects on one of the books from the syllabus. Wuthering Heights was the first book, a book I have always really adored. . .until now. I thought it was perfect - I loved the book, and it was first, so I could get everything over with first thing and have the rest of the semester to chill. Right? Wrong. I am so sick of Heathcliff and Cathy, and Cathy and Hareton, and I am really sick of reading feminist interpretations of the book. Talk about drama. I don't find their story romantic - I find it laughable because they are so ridiculous. I just read it for the creepy factor. One interesting thing I came across in my research was this incredibly strange music video from the '70's. It's a song about Wuthering Heights, and apparently this chick is supposed to be Cathy's ghost in the music video. It's pretty entertaining because it's so out there. Wow. Is the semester over yet?

O Christmas Tree

We thought maybe everyone would want to see some pictures of our house decorated for Christmas. We didn't go all out - we also have a beautiful little porcelain village to go under the tree - since we were heading up to Bedford, VA by way of Ellerbe, NC for Christmas. We really enjoyed getting to see all of the Brown/Bradshaw family, and we got some nice gifts, too. :) Here are pictures of the house. Sorry that they are blurry. My camera has issues.

Helping a Friend in Need

Today you will notice some differences in our blog. These differences will consist of grammar mistakes and slightly different content than normal. All of these differences will make it clear as to which Shealy is writing this blog.

I have never authored a blog before but since my family and good friends have been making regular posts with no apparent side effects I decided it must be safe. Everyone seems to post stuff on their blog that shows events in their lives so here goes...

Helping a Friend in Need

A few days back a buddy and I were engaged in a modern warfare battle. My buddy had just eliminated a threat and turned to meet a new threat. Keep in mind that the initial threat dropped his ammunition so a reload was imminent. As any good partner would have done I recognized the need for assistance. Since a picture is worth a thousand words look below. You will see me at the bottom of the picture in blue. You will see my buddy off in the distance in blue. You will see the new threat close to my buddy in red:

As you can tell my buddy is a good distance away so to make it a little clearer here is a look from the opposite direction at the same moment in time:

Now most people would have said it was no good. My buddy was to far away and he was in the way but I am not most people. Here comes the glorious moment...the shot:

As pointed out earlier my buddy was in the way but knowing that he has a shield which can take an indirect hit I decided to chance it. Please note that timing is everything here and precision shooting is required:

My shot just nicks his hip and takes the threat in the head which drops him right before my buddies eyes:

And that my family and friends is how you step up and help a friend in need.
